IIP Packaging workshop - I

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote value addition and enhance market competitiveness in the coir sector, TANCOIR (Tamil Nadu Coir Business Development Corporation) organised a two-day workshop on Sustainable Packaging & Recent Trends (Coir-based Products) at the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Chennai. Conducted under the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) scheme, the programme attracted 20 participants from coir-based MSMEs across Tamil Nadu.

The workshop aimed to familiarise entrepreneurs with modern, eco-friendly packaging techniques, quality standards, and global regulatory requirements tailored specifically for coir and coir-based products. Experts from IIP led interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in innovative packaging solutions that can boost the market appeal of their products.

Accommodation and food for all participants were thoughtfully arranged at the institute premises, ensuring a comfortable learning environment. The programme was fully sponsored by TANCOIR at a total cost of ₹3.54 lakhs, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing the coir industry through capacity building and technical support.

This initiative underscores TANCOIR’s dedication to empowering MSMEs in Tamil Nadu with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt sustainable practices and align their products with evolving global market demands.
